About

I'm Lucas, a mathematics and economics undergraduate student in Bogotá, Colombia. I enjoy doing research and plan to pursue a PhD. I have several years of professional experience, first as a data analyst and then as a researcher in both the private sector and academia. I’m currently working at Merci People’s Law Firm, and doing research at Universidad del Rosario.

Current Direction

I do not have a single subject, and I have stopped treating that as a gap. What I enjoy working on is a certain kind of question: the sort that is easy to find interesting and hard to answer correctly, usually somewhere inside a human or social system that is hard to find equations for. When a question like that grabs me, I go at it as far as I can take it, and I hold the work to the standard of people who do it for a living. Then, more often than not, my attention moves. I have learned not to fight that.

Lately the questions have come from sports analytics and from topics adjacent to behavioral science. I have a lot left to learn, and committing to one research identity before I have earned the right to choose it well is something I am not yet prepared to do. So for now I keep my interests wide and my standards narrow, and I let curiosity decide the rest.
